Karina Zimmerman has serviced as an Academic Advisor on the Life Sciences First Year team since August 2020. She has been working in the advising field since 2014 at various institutions such as Hillsborough Community College, University of South Florida, and California Polytechnic University at San Luis Obispo. She is a North Carolina native who graduated from UNC Asheville with her bachelors degree in Psychology and from Florida State University with her M.Ed. in Higher Education – Student Affairs. She loves assisting students with the transition to college and helping set them up for success at NC State University. She believes that NC State’s LSFY program can help its students reach their full potential and launch them into strong academic careers. Her biggest pieces of advice for students is to focus on their own paths rather than compare them with others. They will find their home at NC State and the path best suited for them whether it’s in the life sciences or not.
